An Invitation

A Glowing Hearth Poem by James Bethune

Deep in the suburbs

surrounded by trees

stands a cozy brick cottage

all skirted with leaves.

Knock, and be welcomed.

Enter, and be fed.

For this humble sweet house

Is a special homestead.

Where the tired, the wise,

and the curious meet.

A place where all comers will

find what they seek.

So, enter dear traveler!

Come, rest from your cares.

Lay down your burden,

and settle into a chair.

Welcome, indeed,

from the cold and the dark.

Welcome, sweet welcome,

to our warm Glowing Hearth.
